Team up with other young musicians and get professional mentoring in this high-energy week. Form a band, write your own material, record in our professional studio and finish on a high with a live gig.

| What experience do I need? | You play an instrument or sing in a Rock/Pop setting and you’ll be fluent enough to learn new songs quickly, understand chords and create music in small groups. You take your music seriously and have a burning desire to improve your technique, write your own material and learn about studio recording. |
| Accommodation | Dormitory camping in Beauville at Les-2- Lacs campsite. Arrive on Sunday 5 August by 15.00 at Les-2- Lacs campsite. You can leave after the concert on Saturday 11 August, but accommodation is provided until Sunday. |

Many of our Rock Academy students stay on for the Advanced Songwriting and Recording course held the next week.
What does it involve?
Rock Academy is an unforgettable week that will give you a professional grounding in different aspects of the music industry. As well as tuition on your instrument, or voice, you’ll learn about:
- Songwriting
- Arranging
- Promotion
- The Music Business
- Studio Recording
- Live Performance
You will play in small groups directed by our team of professional musicians. With access to our recording studio and a qualified sound engineer, you will get hands-on technical experience and record original songs and covers.
On the final night you will perform live at the Rock Academy gig in front of the public, friends and family at Les-2-Lacs.

Who will be running the course?
Jonathan Mallalieu is the course director. Jonathan has been Director of Music in several UK and international schools and has extensive experience as a Rock, Pop and Jazz performer. As a freelance composer and songwriter, Jonathan has released several dance records and written numerous TV scores. He is also Artistic Director of Beauville Arts. Alongside Jonathan will be a specialist team including experienced tutors in Drums, Guitar/Bass and Vocals.

Other staff include a full time administrator/first aider and BAFA-qualified activity coordinators. BAFA is a French training programme that covers organising activities and safeguarding the safety, security and well-being of young people.
